Mary Nickson

Dr. Mary Nickson is a Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and School Psychologist. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Carleton College in Northfield, MN, and then obtained a master’s degree in Clinical/Community Psychology at Texas Southern University in
Houston, TX. After several years of working as a school psychologist in Harris and Fort Bend Counties, she earned her doctorate from the University of Houston in Counseling Psychology.

For more than 20 years, Dr. Nickson has provided mental health services to families, individuals, children, and adolescents while working in school and university settings, local governmental departments, and social service agencies. She has also done training and facilitated groups on issues involving cultural and
diversity awareness, stress and behavioral management, and grief/loss issues. Using interpersonal, cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapies, along with other counseling interventions, Dr. Nickson presently offers counseling/therapy services to individuals, adolescents, and families through Connections Counseling & Consulting, LLC, in Allen, TX.

Dr. Mary Nickson has been a member of Hamilton Park UMC for over 20 years. She is presently serving as a co-chair of the SPRC. She has served as Dean of the UMW North Texas Conference School of Christian Mission in 2012, and as a Mission u study group facilitator in the 2014 and 2021. She was also a past Chair
of the NTC/UMW Committee on Nominations. Nickson presently serves as the Lay Leader Elect in the North TX Conference of the UMC, and as lay member of the North TX Conference United Methodist Church Board of Ordained Ministry.

Dr. Nickson has been married to her husband, Alfred, for 44 years. They have three children and one granddaughter Mali. She also serves as parliamentarian within her sorority, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., Psi Chapter, a national women’s business organization. When relaxing, she likes to read, watch movies and travel.
