Brenda is a very active member of Central United Methodist Church where she teaches and serves on several committees. She is the Spiritual Growth Coordinator for the Arkansas Conference of United
Women in Faith. She is a certified Lay Speaker. She is also active in the AR Conference as member of the nominating committee and chairwoman of the Committee on Religion and Race.

Brenda served in the Arkansas Senate, Arkansas House of Representatives, and on the Jefferson County Quorum Court She served as a Trustee for the Arkansas School for the Deaf and Blind, and a former president of the Arkansas State Board of Education.
